Rock music is a genre of popular music that originated as "rock and roll" in the United States in the 1950s, and developed into a range of different styles in 1960s and later, particularly in the United States and the United Kingdom. It has its roots in the 40s and 50s rock and roll, being this one very much influenced by R&B (rhythm and blues) and country music. Rock also incorporates some elements of blues and folk, and jazz and classical, too.
